Il volume raccoglie i contributi presentati in occasione del quattordicesimo incontro della Society for Late Antiquity, interamente dedicato al concetto di ‘scala’, intesa sia come categoria graduata di misurazione utilizzata in età tardoantica per scopi euristici sia come strumento metodologico e analitico utilizzato dagli storici moderni per interpretare il passato. Gli 11 saggi, divisi in 3 sezioni, indagano e declinano il variegato concetto di ‘scale’ nelle sue diverse accezioni temporali e spaziali, sociali ed epistemologiche.
